Hi! I’m Hannah.
I created Pacific Math Tutoring to bring confidence with math to students around the world.
Certified Math Teacher
Master Teacher Fellow, Math for America
20 years of tutoring PreK-College
M.S.Ed. Adolescent Mathematics
B.A. International Studies
After teaching math in New York City for nearly a decade, I moved back to my roots, the Pacific Northwest. I had been tutoring the daughter of two educators (a STEM teacher and a principal), and after moving we decided to continue tutoring virtually. 5 years later, we still meet a few dozen times per year. I have enjoyed teaching, but the ability to truly bring patience and individualized attention to tutoring has encouraged me to offer tutoring to new clients, far and wide. Knowing that two dedicated educators value my support in fostering their child’s social-academic growth inspires me to extend my services to other families.
I am lit up by the experience of learning and want to share enthusiasm for math in a way that invites reluctant learners to find their confidence.
I can accommodate various curricular needs and encourage families outside of the United States to contact me.
My expertise lies in helping students overcome the hurdle of numeracy to algebraic understandings. Gaps in these understandings, left unaddressed, are often what students struggle with even as late as precalculus and college algebra.
I help students formulate their own questions to identify where confusion lies and what ideas can be brought to the problem. I make connections to various representations (stories, patterns, tables, graphs, equations, functions, etc.) and give examples and counterexamples until students are teaching me.
I currently support students as young as 5 years old through precalculus.
